MCC staff in Zaporozhye, Ukraine, are safe, but reporting the movement of heavy military equipment within their region. Our partners are also safe, but like many Ukrainians they are shocked and concerned by the strong Russian presence in Crimea. All of our program work continues.
We are finalizing plans to provide supplementary food to about 2,000 children under the age of five in South Sudan. And we are working with our partners on other forms of assistance for people displaced by recent violence.
MCC is releasing an additional $200,000 to provide heating oil, shelter and warm clothing to help Syrian families get through the winter.
MCC urgently needs 4,000 relief kits and 10,000 hygiene kits. In times of need, these kits provide people with basic necessities like towels, bar soap, toothbrushes and bandages.
