WINNIPEG, Man.—A reunion for Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) workers who have served in Southern Africa takes place in Winnipeg, July 15 to 17. Most of the activities will take place at Canadian Mennonite University.
This is the third time that MCC alumni in Manitoba are hosting this reunion that takes place once every three years in different regions in Canada and the U.S., said Dave Dyck, a member of the Manitoba planning committee.
“It is organized by alumni for alumni,” said Dyck, who served as a MCC worker in Zambia in the 1960s along with his wife Milly.
Activities planned for the reunion include plenty of time for visiting, outings to a variety of places of interest in and near Winnipeg, updates on MCC’s programs in Southern Africa, worship services and more.
The first reunion was held in 1976. It started out as a reunion for alumni from Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland but has since expanded to a larger Southern Africa reunion for alumni from eight to 10 countries.
