Our Faith. Our Future. – A new vision for a campaign to celebrate MCC’s centennial
One hundred years ago, MCC was formed in faith to help people in crisis. For the last century, MCC has responded to similar challenges. Today, we are working hard to live up to this legacy.
At this unprecedented time in world history, we are called to dig deeper into faith. The COVID-19 pandemic reminds us to recommit to caring for our neighbours, whether across the street or around the globe. It reminds us to be people of service and generosity. We know that in times of crisis, fear and social isolation, our vision of seeing communities worldwide reconciled with God, one another and creation is vitally important.
These extraordinary circumstances have compelled us to make an essential change to our centennial fundraising campaign.
Before COVID-19, to celebrate MCC’s centennial, we were raising funds to scale up our work with several international and domestic projects. But, like many other organizations we are facing new challenges to our ongoing work because of COVID-19. We anticipate reduced income from relief sale cancellations, temporary Thrift shop closures and Canadian currency conversion rates. We recognize the need for a new vision for our centennial campaign.
Now, we are working to raise $5 million to continue our support for the vulnerable communities we already serve. Generous and faithful donors have already contributed or pledged $4.3 million towards this goal.
We invite you to join us and consider a special gift in 2020 to celebrate MCC’s centennial. You can help ensure MCC’s core programming will remain fully funded now and into the future.
Your gifts will help fund projects that respond to COVID-19, including ongoing health, food and WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) work.
This may not be the centennial campaign we had imagined, but it is needed now more than ever.
Many of us can trace our history to the early years of MCC. To the people who reached out to help their sisters and brothers in need around the world. Together we can build on that heritage, gain strength from our accomplishments and make action our rallying cry. We’ve done it before, and we’ll do it again.
Join us as we bring peace, dignity and hope to those who need it most.
