This February, Mennonite Central Committee will host The Great Winter Warm-Up (GWW). This special in-person event encourages comforter making to give the gift of warmth around the world. Comforters are used in MCC’s international relief efforts when disaster or conflict displace people from their homes and community.
We are inviting churches and comforter knotting groups to hold or attend comforter-knotting blitzes during the month of February. One option is to host your own GWW comforter-knotting blitz. If your church plans to have its own event, we would love to know about it and send someone to visit. You can let us know about your event, including the date and time by emailing Justin here.
The other option is for you to come to the Material Resource (MR) centre in New Hamburg during the week of February 6-13, 2023 and participate in a comforter-knotting blitz. You can sign up here for your group to come to the MR centre.
Last year over 38,000 comforters created by people like you were shipped to places like Burkina Faso, Jordan and Ukraine. Your time and creative talents are helping to share the message of God’s love with those in need. Comforters give hope and comfort and are also a reminder to recipients that their needs are not forgotten. Our goal is to create as many comforters as possible. Learn more here.
Together, we can share warmth and comfort with our global neighbours.
