This is a combination of two hourly part-time positions, home base is Kitchener but supporting in London.
The CoSA Program Associate will work with the Circles of Support and Accountability (CoSA) team to help meet the needs of communities for enhanced safety when working with released sex offenders.
The CoSA Program Associates supports the needs of communities for enhanced safety by providing Circles of Support and Accountability for released sex offenders from Federal or Provincial Institutions.
The project is a part of the Restorative Justice program with Mennonite Central Committee Ontario, funded by CoSA Canada (through Public Safety Canada).
The CoSA program is made up of staff and volunteers who will hold the offenders accountable for their actions and assist them in adjusting to life in the community. This role and relationship with clients is client centered and is time specific. The staff and volunteers will also seek ways to identify and address the needs of the victims of sexual abuse and integrate their concerns into the project. The volunteers will be recruited from a variety of places, with an emphasis on the faith community.
All staff will need to be able to appreciate and relate to people and organizations from the broad range of experiences and faith expressions. All staff will need to be able to provide assistance, guidance and advice to the client group and to volunteer members. Therefore they must be knowledgeable about victim and community issues as well
