MCC is a global relief, development and peace organization. MCC BC Thrift Shops sell donated clothing, books, furniture and other items in order to raise funds for the work of MCC. The shop is a ministry in and of itself, providing low cost goods to people in our community, international and local aid, good stewardship, environmental care, a sense of community to volunteers and the people we serve. This is a full-time 40 hrs/week position for up to 14 weeks (depending on funding) that requires flexibility to work on Saturdays and reports to the Shop Manager.
The successful candidate would work together with the Shipper/Receiver in picking up and delivering furniture on the shop’s truck. Assist in moving furniture in shop, as well as working on setting up attractive furniture displays. Assist customers within the furniture area in a manner that is caring, respectful and culturally appropriate. Assist with special need requests and assist with loading furniture pieces into vehicles, as needed. Merchandise, price and sort other product categories as needed. Maintain tidy sales floor space.
The role is subject to government funding under the Canada Summer Jobs Program. All participants need to be under the age of 30, and be Canadian citizens/Canadian permanent residents or hold Canadian refugee protection status in country.
