The Indigenous Neighbours Coordinator is responsible for facilitating relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people; raising awareness among the constituency and community of Indigenous history in general and stories of specific places and issues, especially regarding Treaty relationships; and developing strategies for changing situations of injustice with community partners.
The Indigenous Neighbours Coordinator will coordinate reconciliation education and opportunities within the MCC Saskatchewan constituency & community. This person will work closely with the MCCS Program Team, and the Peacebuilding Coordinator to address root causes and effects of the Indigenous/Settler relationship. The ability to do this work in a respectful, compassionate manner is important. Often, this person will need to teach in an accessible and at times introductory way.
This position will include participation in various events and activities and will require some travel, including at times, an annual, out-of-province meeting with colleagues. Some flexibility will also be required for evening and weekend work.
The Coordinator is a member of the MCCS Program Team and is supervised by the MCCS Program Director.
