This position involves providing administrative and event planning support for our Indigenous Neighbours Program and our Volunteer Engagement. It will also provide opportunity to engage in learning and participating in activities that engage churches on a path of reconciliation with our Indigenous communities. The position is accountable to the Volunteer Engagement & Indigenous Neighbours Program Coordinator. General office hours of 8:30 am - 4:30 pm will apply with some evening weekend work in relation to special events.
This position provides practical, and hands-on experience (project and event planning, interviewing, valuing and orienting volunteers and working collaboratively with partners and churches on community relationship building as well as learning about First Nations/Metis culture) that would be an asset to anyone working in the field of Indigenous Studies, Social Services, Human Services/Volunteer Management or for a student studying Not-for-Profit Management.
This is a full-time position (37.5 hours a week) for up to a possible 16 weeks, depending on government funding under the Canada Summer Jobs Program. All participants do need to be under the age of 30, and be Canadian citizens/Canadian permanent residents or hold Canadian refugee protection status in country.
