The Fraser Valley Rent Assistant Project’s goal is to create housing stability and reduce poverty. The project provides interest-free loans and grants to families and individuals facing eviction as a result of a temporary financial crisis, or to persons wanting to move from the “street” into housing. One-on-one financial counseling, education on tenancy rights, advocacy to landlords and utility companies, referrals to community services, and the cost of replacing lost ID are also part of the program. This position requires living out your faith and positively advancing the mission of MCC as one engages with clients, community partners, churches and the broader community.
This a short-term hourly paid position (1 day a week) reports to the Homelessness Prevention & Outreach Program Coordinator and will be based in Chilliwack with some travel around the Hope area and meetings in Abbotsford. Depending on availability of funding this position may be extended and possibly reflect increased hours.
