The SALT/YAMENer will support the Grassroot Development Initiative (GDI) in the implementation of a peace clubs project that seeks to address the culture of violence in Kenyan schools through a school-based violence prevention program that discourages corporal punishment and promotes restorative discipline. The participant will assist with various tasks including working with students in the clubs; training peer mediators, peer helpers, and teachers in conflict resolution (and healthy social interactions); assisting with child protection and restorative discipline initiatives; and encouraging support and cooperation from school administrators and community members.
