The MCC BC Centre Thrift Shop seeks to receive and sell used clothing, furniture, small appliances, housewares, books, toys, jewellery and collectibles with all proceeds designated to support the relief, development, social justice and peace work of Mennonite Central Committee. The shop is largely operated by volunteers (approximately 250). These volunteers work at collecting, repairing and selling used materials. In addition, the store seeks to compassion spirit towards its clientele.
The Thrift Shop Assistant will provide support to the shop with donation processing, customer service, retail operations, and donation pick-ups.
This is a full-time position (40 hours a week) for up to a possible 16 weeks, requiring flexibility to work on Saturdays. This position is subject to government funding under the Canada Summer Jobs Program. All participants do need to be under the age of 30, be Canadian citizens/Canadian permanent residents or hold Canadian refugee protection status in country, as well as be a full-time student during current semester and intend to be a full-time student in the fall semester.
