Circles of Support and Accountability seeks to make communities safer by forming support and accountability groups around released prisoners convicted of sexual offences.

Geographic Location:

  • Greater Toronto area (including Oshawa, Mississauga, Brampton), Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge, London

Skills/ Knowledge/ Attitude Requirements:

  • Willingness to be part of a relationship building venture with a team of others
  • Commitment to accompany an individual who has been convicted of a sexual offence in their quest to lead a responsible life and to having no more victims
  • Over 21 years of age
  • Police check for vulnerable sector verification and/or Correctional Service of Canada clearance requirements

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Participation at regular meetings
  • Availability for informal contact with the “core member” between meetings
  • Availability for on-going volunteer training

Time Commitment

  • Expected number of hours per week or month:  at least 3 hours a week in the beginning
  • Length of commitment required: at least one year
  • Not available for high school community service hours

Training and Development offered 

  • Position specific orientation will be provided
  • Job shadowing and training meetings offered as available
  • Correctional Service of Canada training as required
  • Other training and skills development
  • Volunteer liability coverage for all volunteers
