Workroom Volunteers help prepare kits and knotted comforters for shipments overseas.

Skills/ Knowledge/ Attitude Requirements:

  • Must be willing to work alongside other volunteers
  • Ability to stand for periods of time an asset
  • Ability to lift 25 – 50 pounds an asset
  • Experience in sewing an asset

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Sort donations
  • Check donated kits and, at times, assemble kits from raw supplies
  • Cut fabric into squares for comforters, lay out comforter tops, sew comforter tops, knot comforters, bind comforters
  • General organizing and cleaning as required
  • Prepare items for kit packing (i.e. separate pencil crayons and bag them, take packaging off of items, etc.)

Training and Development offered:

  • Position specific orientation will be provided
  • Job shadowing and training meetings offered as available
  • Other training and skills development
  • Policy and procedure manual available at all times

Other

  • Volunteer liability coverage for all volunteers
