The Fraser Valley Rent Bank provides one-time emergency loans and grants for families and individuals who are at risk of losing their homes. Loans are provided to pay for security deposits, utility deposits, and arrears, and rent, with a maximum loan repayment period of 24 months. Participants also have the opportunity to build knowledge and skills in effective money management.
The objectives of the Fraser Valley Rent Bank are to:
- Secure stable housing or prevent eviction
- Avoid utility disconnection or re-connect utilities
- Build knowledge and skills in effective money management
In order to be considered for a loan or grant, an applicant must:
- Reside in Abbotsford, Mission, Chilliwack, Hope, Agassiz, or Harrison Hot Springs
- Owe no more than two months of rent
- Have the capacity to repay the loan
- Demonstrate that the household is low income
Minimum documentation needed:
- 2 pieces of identification, including one piece of photo ID
- Your tenancy agreement
- Three months of recent bank statements
