The Christmas Kit Packing event for 2018

**Urgent Need**

MCC partners in Lebanon, Jordan and Bosnia are urgently requesting 2,500 hygiene kits and 450 relief buckets by June 15 from Alberta! Please consider donating to this urgent need. (For kit details mccab.ca/kits)

It’s been a busy year in Material Resources!  From right here in Alberta, 2,358 school kits, 1,700 hygiene kits, 672 relief kits and 291 infant care kits were collected and sent, as well as 1,950 blankets. Your gifts are appreciated.

Starting in April 2018, some of kit contents have been reworked in consultation with MCC partners.  Please go to mccab.ca for an updated list, but here’s a list of most of the changes.

  • School kits: Adding metal pencil sharpeners and ballpoint pens
  • Hygiene kits: Adding a wide tooth comb
  • Relief kits: Increasing the total quantity of shampoo and feminine hygiene products. Also, when purchasing sanitary napkins, please ensure they are “THIN”, as these are much easier to pack into the buckets
  • Infant care kits: Increasing the numbers of sleepers and onesies and removing the diapers

If you have any questions or comments about any of these changes, please feel free to contact me.

I’d like to share a reworking of Matthew 25.

“For I was hungry, and you gave me canned meat and soup mix.

I was thirsty, and you helped me build a sand dam so we could have clean water.

I was homeless, and you gave me shelter and helped me find a place to lay my head.

I was cold, and you gave me a blanket; and a hat and sleepers for my baby.

I was sick, and you cared for me, and you gave me a hygiene kit with basic supplies I needed to keep clean and healthy.

I was in prison and you visited me and gave me a community when I got out.

And Jesus said, ‘Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, you did it to me.’”

Thank you so much for your generosity this year!
