Through an MCC-supported project, Rasmane Derra, a farmer in the Burkina Faso village of Pella, began harvesting his crop and selling it as seed for planting, rather than as food. The change increased his income, and he recently purchased two bulls to use to help plow his fields and is planting additional fields of beans, sesame plants and peanuts.

This agriculture project of MCC and partner Office de Développement des Églises Evangélique works in 42 villages in central Burkina Faso to promote food security by teaching methods of sustainable agriculture in cereal and rice production, vegetable gardening and moringa and sesame plant production.
