Theatre of the Beat toured their play about restorative justice through the Maritimes with support from MCC.

In October 2014, Theatre of the Beat began the Maritimes tour of their play, Forgiven/Forgotten. The play follows a family as they find out that an offender will be serving parole in their community and grapple with the decision of whether to reach out to those in need. In partnership with 14 churches and organizations who invited their various communities into the discussion, MCC Maritimes facilitated the presentation of the play to 550 people in all three Maritime provinces.

“We were thrilled to be a part of a bigger conversation about restorative justice, safety, hospitality, and friendship.”

 – Johnny Wideman, Director of Theatre of the Beat

One of the organizers in Fredericton, Vince Zelazny of the Quaker Maritimes Meeting said that “The presentation really exceeded expectations… in the subtlety and depth of the material. It challenges us to take stock of our biases against people that we’re incompletely aware of.”
