Join MCC Great Lakes for three days focusing on the complexities of the U.S. criminal justice system as seen in northern Indiana. 

Participants will learn about the systemic forces at play that have led to mass incarceration and the criminalization of marginalized groups. The group will hear diverse perspectives from community organizations and people experiencing arrest, incarceration and re-entry. 

Cost: $250 per person - includes all onsite costs such as lodging (if needed), meals and honorariums

Details: Learning tour begins at 8:30 a.m. EDT on Wednesday, November 1 and ends at 5 p.m. EDT on Friday, November 3

Gira de aprendizaje sobre el Sistema de Justicia Criminal “Pipeline to Prison” en el norte de Indiana

Acompañe al CCM Great Lakes en este tour de aprendizaje por tres días, en el cual nos enfocaremos y examinaremos las complejidades del Sistema de Justicia Criminal de los Estados Unidos, como se experimenta en el norte de Indiana. 

Los participantes aprenderán sobre los distintos matices y actores que nos han conducido al encarcelamiento masivo y la criminalización de grupos marginados. El grupo escuchará diversas perspectivas de organizaciones de la comunidad y de personas que han experimentado el arresto, encarcelación y re-entrada a la sociedad.

Costo: $250 por persona - incluye todos los costos locales tales como alojamiento (en caso de ser necesario), comidas y honorarios

•     Tour: Elkhart County Correctional Complex

     o     Elkhart Jail Ministry Chaplain Cory Martin

•     Lunch (Restaurant in Elkhart)

•     Elkhart Jail Ministry Re Entry Houses Visit

     o     Don French leads visit to reentry houses (ECJM)

•     5:00 pm Dinner/Debriefing

 

Thursday (11/02):  Justice for All: Where We Are

•     Gather at Newcomer Center

•     Load Vans and departure to Elkhart

•     The Criminal Justice System – Punitive Justice in Action

     o     Center for Community Justice – Restorative Justice in Action, Irwin Larrier & CCJ Staff  

     o     Transitional Coaching Program
