Peace Sunday 2011

Centre for Peacebuilding

Peace Sunday is an annual opportunity to preach, teach, reflect and act upon the gospel of peace proclaimed and embodied by Jesus Christ. At a time of year when our nation honours military service, Peace Sunday reminds us of Jesus' call to love our enemies, to resist evil nonviolently, and to live as people of peace. MCC Canada encourages Canadian Anabaptist congregations to observe Peace Sunday in early November, just prior to Remembrance Day.

The Peace Sunday Packet is intended to help your congregation plan a Peace Sunday worship service, and to engage in reflection and witness beyond the worship service.

Entitled "Prayers and practices of nonviolence", the 2011 packet invites us all to share prayers and practices that embody the nonviolent love of Jesus Christ, through worship resources and suggestions for learning and action. The Peace Sunday supplement, "Timeline and stories of nonviolence", is a collection of historical accounts of nonviolence over the last 100 years, and lists additional resources for consideration.

The 2011 Peace Sunday Packet was written by MCC staff in Ontario.
